Below is a list of sites I like to visit in order to find new music. If you think of any more that I need to post on this page, please let me know. Enjoy.
Beckenhorst Press–A great place for Christian music that is both accessible and musical. The music is very high quality. Sometimes, it can be a little too difficult for high schoolers, however.
Boosey & Hawkes-Has some great classically oriented choral pieces (Choral Music Experience series).
J.W. Pepper Music Distributors–An excellent site for finding band/choral music. It even has a lot of samples of the music for listening purposes. Check out their “Basic Library” and “Editor’s Choice” Sections.
Lorenz Publishing– The parent company of both Exaltation Press (sacred music) and Heritage Music Press (elementary and Jr. high). You can find some great music by some of the best choral composers out there. I highly recommend Heritage Music Press.
The Music of Dan Forrest–A very talented composer of sacred/secular music. He has won many compositional awards and even had his music performed at Carnegie Hall! He was my aural skills teacher down at BJU before he went and became famous. His music can be a bit difficult for high schoolers.
Choral Public Domain Library–This site allows people to create their own versions of public domain songs and upload them for others to use. Some are well-done versions, and some are not so good. Still, it is a great place for free music. I have used this site for several of the songs I used this year. Free!
International Music Score Library Project–This site allows people to upload scanned versions of public domain music. It has some very complete composers. Great for vocalists and pianists. Free!
Cipoo.net : Public Domain Choral Music–This site is very similar to CPDL, with the exception that does not have as many songs. Still, it’s free, and there is some nice music on it.
Brilee Music–This company has published music that I have used this year. Some of their stuff is very good. I recommend anything by Ruth E. Schram.
Alfred Music–A good site for some lighter concert music. It also has sacred music.
